a letter to a friend

Dear Nina,

​I’ve never personally had a conversation with you, but I made music with you in orchestra since grade school. I do remember the light and joy you brought to the people you encountered though through your gleaming smile and contagious energy. Nina, you are so missed right now, not just from your closest relatives and friends, but from lives you touched in ways you probably didn’t even know.

But now, Nina, you are in God’s Kingdom, and although you didn’t get to graduate high school and experience the next chapter of your life here on earth, I guess God decided he needed you in heaven just a lil’ sooner. I can’t imagine the happiness and comfort you are feeling up there with our Father. I can’t imagine the peace you are at. He’s always fighting for us and he never gave up on any of us, not you, not me, no one. He just has this timeline and plan that I guess we can’t always comprehend.

I kept ignoring the reality that you passed Nina, and it made me really angry this week. I just didn’t want to believe things like this happened. But now spending some time with God, He and you helped me realize another reality-that he doesn’t need us, but that he WANTS us. Nina, God WANTED you in that moment He lifted you up to Him. You didn’t pass away, you passed from Earth to Life; Life with our Father in heaven. I’m not sure why God wanted you at that moment but I need to trust Him because He is the only king forever, and you are one of his princesses.
Nina, we love you here on Earth, but not nearly as much as the God up there loves you. We miss you. We thank you for the joy you brought to this world. I wish I got to experience the way you made people smile; I can only imagine :)
