That should be the response to who we are supposed to love, and for how long: Everybody.  Always.  God never told us He would only love the godly or perfect, and he didn't tell us He would only love us for a week either.  If we are supposed to find a purpose in Him, we need to learn how to be more like Him, and that requires us to love everybody, always.

When this book came out, I was stoked to read it.  The beginning was very similar to his first book "Love Does" in that he connected his experiences to God's role in his life, and don't get me wrong, I was very interested.  However, I was afraid that I would get bored of the book pretty soon.

Then I began to read about Witch Doctors in Uganda.  Bob Goff is a retired lawyer and current honorary consul of Uganda.  He wanted to figure out how he could serve in Africa, and God gave him the passion of helping kids in Uganda, talent for being a lawyer, and determination to end the horrific things that witch doctors did to young children.

Witch doctors believed that body parts such as the genitals of children were sacred and held magical powers; therefore, witch doctors would kidnap kids, cut of their parts, and leave them to die a long and painful death.  It was terrible.  No one did anything about this because people feared witch doctors.  That was until Bob decided to put a witch doctor on trial.  Long story short, Bob not only saved a little kid from almost dying a painful death after a witch doctor named Kabi took his parts, but he also started a movement of love.  He made witch doctors illegal, introduced Kabi to God, forgave witch doctors of what they did, brought them to Christ, opened up a school for witch doctors to learn how to read and write, gave Charlie, the little boy who Kabi tried to kill a father in him and Him, and saved so many people living in fear.  Ultimately though, it was all God working in Bob.

Now that is only one of Bob's many adventures of learning how to love people in a world of setbacks and difficult people.  Throughout his stories, I began to reflect on how I was living my life and I think I could do a lot more loving.  The thing is, society makes it really easy for people to try to be the most perfect version of ourselves when we should really be focused on being a better reflection of God. God created us, and He wants a relationship with us, yet we constantly push him a way in order to pursue other things.  We constantly say "no" to God and "yes" to things that don't align with our purpose here on Earth.

I think the most important think I learned about in this book was that I need to humble myself in order to love others better. God's love is not a thing he gives us for ourselves to keep.  He gives it to us so that we can share it with others.  Life is about giving love out like popping confetti in the air.  It's produces vibrant and contagious life in others.
I'm not saying it's easy though.  Everyday I struggle with spending time with God because He doesn't necessarily show up in tangible ways that most worldly things do.  I guess that's the mysterious beautiful about it.
