I went on a weekend retreat called “Immerse” through my new hometown church-McKinney Memorial Bible Church! At first, I was hesitant about going; retreats aren’t really my thing because I like the comfort of my own bed and the peace of being by myself. However, now looking back, I am so glad I made the decision to go. Here was a place to escape campus for a bit and find some of my people! I met so many people whom shared my beliefs and values, and this weekend was a time to simply spend time in community and have some fun! From singing throwback songs (including Jonas Brothers), and playing bubble soccer (if you haven’t done this before-put it on your bucket list!), I have never laughed so hard in a long time. Picture Above: Smiling with Kate, my Immerse Leader; Below: Liv playing bubble soccer In the midst of laughter and giggles, Immerse was also a time to weekend to realign my priorities and realize that it can be so easy to put my faith on the back burner of my life. I place so much of my time on grades, reputation, and fitness; I put my identity in these things instead of placing my identity in the great God and beloved Father above me.
Truly one of the best weekends of college so far. What’s the better part? I get to take these friendships found here back to campus!
