Finally, after training for the past semester and two weeks of summer, the OL team and I are so stoked to finally get to be the first many faces of TCU these new students get to meet! For me, I knew I wanted to be an Orientation Leader the moment after my orientation ended. Going into these two days of orientation, I went in with the mindset of signing up for my classes and getting out of the scorching heat. As an “Oregonian”, I was not adapted to the Texas heat yet; I immediately began to question whether I made the right decision for college the moment I stepped onto campus and felt beads of sweat roll down my face. Texas was hot.
However, TCU’s orientation is unique in that they don’t just make it an information session. They make it an experience. The Orientation leaders were the first faces of TCU I encounters, and they were energetic, positive, and welcoming. It was humid and sticky outside, but these people were leaders who pushed through the Texas heat, naggy parents, and questioning students so that they could give every individual the assurance that they made the right decision. Now, the roles have changed, and I get to step up and be that leader for the 2,250 (CRAZY BIG CLASS) students that are coming to school this fall. Although I am crazy nervous, I am over-the-brim excited to create relationships, help others, and experience what it means to be the face of TCU! Go frogs! We are so stoked to have you Class of ‘22!
